Sorry, Chap.

Cheers to my first post. For the time being, I plan to use this blog as a way to aid me in my search for a post-university career. I hope that it helps others in my position, in some way or another, to gain confidence in their future endeavors.

I'll start off with the bad news. Today I received an email saying that unfortunately, a company I had interviewed with yesterday would be:

"...unable to offer me a second interview at this time."

Silly stock image that shows how I feel.
When I received this email, I happened to be attending a class offered by my alma mater's Office of Information Technology entitled "Beyond the Basics: Gmail." Naturally, the workshop had me absorbed by my email, so I couldn't ignore the sudden sinking feeling that crept into my stomach. I must have reread the email half a dozen times, hoping that the words would rearrange themselves on the page and it would all have been a silly mistake.

Oops, wrong applicant?

Immediately, I felt myself slipping back in time, to a moment where I sat at a desk in front of two interviewers. I reran our conversations through my head. During the interview, I'd felt rather confident. Now, in the aftermath, I wondered what I had said to make them feel differently.

I've got to imagine that I am not the only recently-graduated job-seeker out there. This is why, I have determined to create a blog about the "struggles" (in quotes because, well, maybe they're first world problems) that Young Professionals are facing in the post-graduation world. I plan to share my trials and tribulations, tips and tricks, and any news and articles I find that are related to the search.

If you have any suggestions, or know someone who may be interested in job searching, post-university life/what to do after graduation, general life tips, or a potentially thought-provoking blog, please direct them here ---> http://younghungryblog.blogspot.com
